Once upon a time, text messages used to be the heart and soul of our daily digital conversations. From special message packs to sending smileys using the keypad, conversations in the olden days, more like the past decade, used to be simple. But that changed with the advent of WhatsApp.
WhatsApp not only taught people to send messages using the internet but it also gave them means to express themselves more profoundly. From simple smileys to videos, from GIFs to audio files, and from picture and doodle to the stickers, WhatsApp added a whole new dimension to the dull and monotonous conversations. Like all things good, this change too came with a price tag. No, we are not talking about your data pack but about the precious storage space on your smartphones.
Today hundreds of thousands of conversations take place on WhatsApp globally. While some of these conversations involve simple text, others include images and videos. This like I mentioned before takes up a lot of storage space. And God forbid, if you happen to be a part of a couple of groups where people actively engage with one another, your storage space would reduce dramatically.
So here’s a simple way you can track which one of your WhatsApp chats takes up most of your storage space on your iPhone:
– Open WhatsApp and tap on the Settings options on the bottom of the app.
– Next, tap on Data and Storage Usage options.
– Now tap on the Storage Usage option.
There you have it. What you can see now is a list of chats in the decreasing order of the space they occupy.
But don’t worry if you have an Android phone. Just follow these simple steps:
– Open the app and tap on the three dots on the top right corner.
– Tap on Settings option and tap on Data and Storage Usage option.
– Next tap on Storage Usage option and you are done.
It is worth noting that the chat that consumes the maximum memory space also consumes maximum data on your phone as it would be the one downloading (or may be uploading) the maximum number of multimedia files.
So, now that you have figured out which one of your chats eats up most of your storage space, your can try deleting some of those files to ease up the burden on your phone’s memory.
